Seeds of Change: Celebrating Islam - A3 Print
Seeds of Change: Celebrating Islam - Print
This print was originally created for Newham’s Islamophobia Awareness Month as part of the Seeds of Change: Celebrating Islam installation and event.
It is inspired by conversations held during a workshop with an all-Muslim women’s consultation group. Many Muslim women, especially those who wear the hijab, are visibly representative of their faith. The hijab is a personal choice, often worn as a symbol of faith, modesty, and strength—qualities that endure despite the challenges it faces, particularly in countries where it is restricted.
This piece seeks to centre their experiences, honouring their resilience and faith through a lens that is not shaped by colonial or Western perspectives, but rather by the perspective of a fellow Muslim woman who wears the hijab and understands the complex reactions it can evoke.
